About A Wee Dram Ceilidh Band
A Wee Dram is rooted in the kind of ceilidhs you grow up with in Scotland; lively, social and full of energy.
Led by a Scottish caller Heather, the band brings that same spirit to Melbourne, creating ceilidhs that feel natural, inclusive and genuinely lots of fun.
These aren’t formal demonstrations or carefully choreographed performances. These are ceilidhs where everyone gets involved, whether they’ve done it a hundred times or are stepping onto the dance floor for the first time.
Our Story
With a background in teaching, Heather leads each ceilidh with clear, relaxed calling that helps everyone feel comfortable joining in.
Each dance is explained in a way that’s easy to follow, so guests can focus on enjoying themselves rather than worrying about getting it right. Mistakes are welcome.
Alongside that, the band brings the drive and energy of live Scottish music, creating a dance floor that feels welcoming, lively and full of energy from start to finish.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
At it’s heart, a ceilidh is about people.
It’s about dancing together, laughing when things go wrong, and quickly realising it doesn’t matter.
It’s the kind of atmosphere you’ll find at weddings, parties and celebrations across Scotland, where the dance floor fills up and stays that way.
That’s the experience we aim to recreate. Not something staged or historical, but something that feels alive, social and part of the moment.
-
While ceilidhs are a familiar part of life for many Scots, you don’t need any experience to take part.
A Wee Dram welcomes anyone who wants to join in; whether you’re reconnecting with a piece of home or discovering ceilidh dancing for the first time.
The aim is always the same; a full dance floor, plenty of laughter and a celebration that feels shared by everyone in the room.
